Poseidon Sea Pilots is a fully owned subsidiary of AMS Group providing modernised unrestricted pilotage services across the ports of Brisbane, Melbourne, Geelong, Hastings and Corner Inlet (Barrys Beach).
AMS Group consists of four business units with a common delivery imperative, delivering high integrity services into strict regulated environments including Commonwealth of Australia Federal agencies, Department of Defence, large and small ports and waterways and commercial aviation. We have joined the Veteran Employment Commitment and been recognised as a Veteran Employment Supporter.
AMS Group has strong ties to the Defence force, with almost one fifth of its staff comprising of former long-term defence members. This culture has been wholeheartedly adopted by Poseidon Sea Pilots.
We have established clear career trajectories for former members of the Royal Australian Navy. This represents a fresh opportunity for those who previously served in the defence sector, providing a previously non-existent avenue to become a Marine Pilot in Brisbane.
Our inaugural trainee pilots began their journey in 2022, and in 2024, many have now achieved the highest level of pilotage licences in Brisbane as an unrestricted pilot. The career paths for veterans are both tangible and attainable.
Sustainability
At Poseidon Sea Pilots, we are embarking on a sustainability journey,
actively enhancing our business by endeavoring to stay well-informed,
engaged, and competitive in the realm of sustainable business practices.
Diverse people & diverse opportunities
We prioritise creating a diverse and inclusive work environment where everyone feels respected and valued.
AMS Group and Poseidon Sea Pilots have launched a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in partnership with the Minjerribah Moorgumpin Elders-In-Council Aboriginal Corporation (MMEIC). This partnership will provide four maritime traineeships per year to First Nations descendants from the Quandamooka region, resulting in a $3.5M investment over ten years. It aligns with Australia's commitments for SDG 8 and SDG 10.
